Career Captains

Career Services is excited to announce we have launched Career Captains, a new initiative designed to strengthen career readiness across campus by partnering with engaged faculty and staff. Rebranded from the former Career Advocate Network, Career Captains highlights trusted campus leaders who play a visible, proactive role in guiding students’ career development
Career Captains are invited faculty and staff members who regularly interact with students and are committed to integrating career conversations into advising, teaching, and student support. Through onboarding, resource toolkits, and ongoing collaboration with Career Services, Career Captains help students confidently navigate career resources, connect academic experiences to future goals, and take meaningful next steps toward life after graduation.
Launched as an invitation-only pilot, the program began with a small cohort of campus leaders (see below) to build momentum, gather feedback, and create campus-wide visibility for career readiness efforts. Participants receive recognition, early access to Career Center updates, and opportunities to collaborate on events, classroom engagements, and student outreach, positioning Career Captains as key partners in fostering a university-wide culture of career development. The second cohort will take place over the summer. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Career Captain in the future, please contact Crystal Howard at howardcr22@ecu.edu.
